Once you get used to the controls in WordPress you will find that your blog is very easy to edit and also has a huge amount of potential! The site Classical Guitar Review was created with the very same software so, if you wanted to you could make something as complex!
Posts and Pages
The two most commonly used parts of your site are posts and pages. A page is an individual web page that can be accessed from a menu. Often you might want to use a page to show your biography and personal picture. You may also want to use a page for your links, contact info or photo gallery. A post is an entry on your site that appears in a chronological order with other posts. You can think of a post as a diary entry and when you write a new post the older ones are pusher further down the list. You can always access these but the newest posts will always be listed first. Posts are used most commonly for blog entries, news, updates, concert announcements etc.
Creating Posts and Pages
Posts and pages are created in a very similar manner. Go to the left side menu in your dashboard and click on either “Posts” or “Pages” and then select “Add New Post/Page”
You will then be taken to a screen that has heading box and a large central box to enter text. Enter your heading and start writing! When you are done click on “Publish” which is located to the upper right hand side of the page. Your Page or post will then appear on your site.
Just like in Microsoft Word you can manipulate the text using bold italic or colored text. The controls are directly above the central text box and you can get extended controls for headings and other aspects by clicking on the far right button (hide/show the kitchen sink)
