Left Hand Preparation

About the lesson

Left-hand preparation is an essential technique that will take your playing to the next level. By paying attention to the transition between the notes, left-hand preparation offers two important aspects to your playing: creating a more legato, or connected sound; and being able to connect more than one line of music together. In this lesson we take a look at the difference between vertical and horizontal playing and how preparation can give a more horizontal, singing nature to the music. We also look at a chromatic octaves scale exercise, which requires your fingers to always be moving toward their next destination.

This lesson is part of the Fundamentals course at the Classical Guitar Corner Academy. This course covers all of the core fundamentals that make up classical guitar technique and prepares you to undertake Level 1 in the curriculum.

Other Topics In This Course: Tremolo Preparation, The Hinge Barre, Artificial Harmonics, Chromatic Octave Scales – String Noise Reduction
