2016 is going to be all about the members at CGC. I want to further build our fantastic community and offer activities that bring us all together to learn, inspire and develop in our music making. There will be more great lessons on technique, and the CGC curriculum will keep filling out with Level 3, 4 and 5 courses. Additionally I have some exciting surprises to show you as the year moves ahead, but for the moment here is a look into core components of Classical Guitar Corner in 2016:

  • Live Member Seminars : After a few trials last year we are all set to go with live training seminars. These interactive conferences bring us together from every corner of the globe to study together. Free for all CGC members.
  • Guitoberfest is coming back! After a very successful workshop in 2015 Guitoberfest will be back with great repertoire and guest teachers. It will run in October, so if you are keen try to keep that month available for some committed learning.
  • CGC Podcast : You will be happy to know that the CGC Podcast will kick off again this Sunday with new episodes coming out every two week. I have learned a lot from talking with other guitarists and I am sure there will be much to learn this year too.
  • More advanced lessons for members : As the CGC curriculum is added to in 2016 there will be more intermediate and advanced lessons appearing on technique, musicianship, theory and sight reading. As always all of these core materials are available to members.
  • Repertoire Workshops : In 2015 I introduced the first of many repertoire workshops to come with Carcassi’s Etude 7. These workshops take a deep dive into pieces of repertoire and explore ways to learn and practice pieces effectively. It takes all of the concepts you have studies in the coursework and puts it into practice! Included in membership.
  • A growing community and active forum : CGC is alive because of you and all the members that contribute. I want to foster a supportive, lively and passionate community that will become the heart of this site. The forum already has hundreds of posts and conversations, but it is time to get the chatter really bubbling this year… I am going to be working hard to grow the great community of players here at CGC.
  • Refined free lessons : toward the end of last year I have been re-visiting some of the free lessons on the site and revising them to make them more useful to the global community. While they will not replace the lessons in the curriculum they can offer great information to those who need it.

If there is anything you would particularly like to see appear on CGC please feel free to let me know in the comments below. I am always open to ideas, and after all… this site is here for you!
