Another great podcast Simon. So interesting to hear all the hard yards that go into a musical career.
I had the pleasure of being in the audience at Laycock Street Theatre in Gosford when Karin & Katie presented ‘songs of the latin skies’. Simply superb, very moving and like liquid gold….listening to the CD now …..aaaah….

This was fascinating Simon. Particularly new and different was Karin’s concept of “engaging with” as opposed to simply “performing for” the audience. It seems almost that invoking and attempting to communicate the emotive element in her playing has the potential to create a “fourth dimension” of the artistic experience – a deep, intangible connection that takes both performer and listener to a higher level.

I also loved that she was, literally, born to the guitar! Thanks for bringing this wonderful story to us!

Fantastic interview with so much great information shared from the perspective of someone who really knows. So glad to hear that a virtuoso has small hands…maybe there is hope for the rest of us:) When Karin spoke about being able to really engage with the audience during a performance, it took me back to the 2019 CGCA summer school when Berta Rojas performed…I was moved in a way that I have never been before at any concert I have attended. I had no words to explain it at the time but now I think I know what I was experiencing. Thank you so much to both of you.

I really enjoyed this interview! Especially the part on the acting lessons, the exploration of emotions and what it can bring to interpretation of music and to all art forms. It makes so much sense, but yet the connection is not necessarily automatic. Thanks a lot Karin and Simon!

Thank you for another great interview, and for including the links to some of Karin’s recordings. What a fascinating life-long journey of guitar playing she’s on! She is truly able to get to another dimension of engagement with her audience.

Thank you for sharing her story.
    Judy
